FAQs

What do we do?

We plan, design, and manage the aesthetic and functional aspects of architectural or interior spaces. This includes feasibility studies, master planning, schematic planning, space planning, material selection, furniture design and/or procurement, and project management.

  • Why do I need a designer/consultant?

We offer expertise in space planning, colour theory, furniture selection, and can help clients achieve a cohesive and functional design that meets your needs and preferences, potentially saving time and money in the long run.

  • What is your design process?

We typically follow a process that includes initial consultations, concept development, design presentations, revisions, construction documentation, and project implementation. For larger and mostly architectural projects, a Feasibility Study will be necessary before any design is done to determine the constraints we will be looking at and what other consultants we might need to involve.

  • What is your design style?

We often have a signature style, shown on this website, but it's important to discuss whether our style aligns with your preferences. If you prefer a different style, we need to know while setting out the Design Brief it helps to reduce extra cost and revision times.

  • What services do you offer?

Beyond basic design, we offer additional services like bespoke furniture design or selection and fabrication, project management, procurement, and even help with navigating building codes and regulations in Hong Kong, Australia or New Zealand.

Cost and Budget:

  • How much does it all cost?

Costs vary depending on the scope of the project, the designer's fees, and the cost of materials and furnishings, but as a gauge our design + project management fees would be around 8 - 12 % of the total construction budget depending on complexity of the project. We also offer “Design and Build” packages for a more streamlined approach.

  • Can you work with my budget?

Discussing your budget openly with us helps us ensure we can work within your financial constraints. A lot of clients like to hide their budget, which causes a lot of unwanted compromises in design, materials choices or even contractor choices. So please be open with us, our job is to help you and is reflected in our open and clear cost structures.

  • What factors can increase the costs?

Luxurious materials, custom furniture, complex design elements, changes to designs during construction and extended timelines can all contribute to higher or added costs.

Are we right for you?:

  • What should I bring to the first meeting?

Be prepared to discuss your style preferences, budget, timeline, and any existing inspiration you have.

  • Do you have the experience with similar projects?

We will discuss projects with similar scope and style to yours, and if we think your project needs special attention, our broad range of international partners in architecture and interior design will definitely help.

Project Specifics:

  • How involved will I be in the design process?

During the design process, we will clarify with you at every stage, to make sure we are going in the right direction. During construction, if we are appointed to also project manage, we will update you periodically on process and items that need your decision. The level of client involvement depends on whether you prefer a hands-on or more hands-off approach. However, there are things that are best left to us to decide. In general, more hands-on approach will usually cost more and take longer, while a more hands-off approach will have a completed project sooner and cheaper.

  • How long does the design process take?

We will discuss the estimated timeline for your project, considering factors like the size and complexity of the project.

  • Do you have any minimum project requirements?

While we do have a rough minimum project size and budget, don’t let that deter you from a free inquiry.
